B.More's AI

B.More AI is a purpose-built chatbot designed to help Portsmouth residents find timely, local support for addiction recovery and mental health challenges. Powered by Chatbase and OpenAI technologies, it connects you to information on counselling services, peer support groups and community resources across Portsmouth.

How It Works

  1. Curated Database
    The B.More team maintains a comprehensive list of local services. Each entry includes:

    • A description of what the provider is best suited for, for example detox, group therapy or peer mentoring

    • Priority indicators so that if a user has a particular concern, such as opioid dependence or dual diagnosis, the bot recommends the most appropriate options first

    • Contact details, including telephone numbers, email addresses and website URLs

    • Because the team contributes these insights directly, recommendations reflect real-world experience and local knowledge.

  2. Automated Resource Discovery
    B.More AI periodically scans publicly available sources, such as NHS listings, local charity directories and community forums, to find any resources already listed elsewhere.

  3. AI Training and Localisation
    The chatbot has been trained to respond with an empathetic tone and community focus. Replies are fine-tuned with details about Portsmouth’s neighbourhoods, service reputations and eligibility criteria. When you ask “Where can I find a counselling programme near Gunwharf Quays?” or “How do I volunteer for B.More?”, the bot interprets your request and draws on its database and indexed listings to provide tailored, contextually relevant answers.

  4. Data Privacy and Retention

    • You can chat anonymously; B.More AI does not collect IP addresses, browser details or location data.

    • Anything you type, including personal details, is stored securely for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted.

    • Only Isobel at AI for Good Consulting has access to the chat data, ensuring maximum privacy and accountability.​

Contributing and Feedback

  • Service Providers and Partners
    If you represent a local recovery service—such as a rehab centre, peer support group or counselling provider—and would like us to add or update your information in our database, please email Isobel@aiforgoodconsulting.co.uk. We’ll ensure your details are included so anyone using B.More AI can find and access your support.

  • Reporting Errors
    If you notice incomplete or incorrect information—such as an outdated meeting time or wrong contact details—email Isobel@aiforgoodconsulting.co.uk. We welcome all feedback and will update the database promptly to keep B.More AI accurate and reliable.

Scope and Limitations


B.More AI can signpost you to local counselling programmes, support groups and volunteering opportunities. However, it is not a crisis line. If you need immediate help, please call 999 or Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7). B.More AI does not provide medical or legal advice; it is for informational and referral purposes only.

This document explains how the B.more chatbot operates, what information it may process, and the terms that apply when you use it. The chatbot is part of the B.more initiative in Portsmouth, which supports people who are actively using drugs, in recovery, or struggling with mental health, by helping them find local support resources.

Who is responsible for this chatbot?


The chatbot is managed by Isobel at AI for Good Consulting, who set it up and oversees how it works. She is the only person with access to the system and can respond to questions or requests about data. You can contact her at: Isobel@aiforgoodconsulting.co.uk

Important limitations


This chatbot is not a crisis line and is not monitored. If you are in danger or need immediate help, please call 999 or contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (free, 24/7).

What information is collected?


We don’t ask for your name or any identifying details. But if you type something that includes personal information (like your name or story), it may be stored as part of your conversation. The system records what you type and when, but it does not track your IP address, location, or browser.

Why we process your data


We rely on what the law calls our “legitimate interests” to operate this service—specifically, the interest in helping people find support for substance use, recovery and mental health challenges in Portsmouth. We aim to do this in a way that respects your privacy.

How long do we keep chat data?


Chats are stored for 30 days, then permanently deleted. This helps us maintain the service and improve accuracy, without keeping more than we need.

Where does your data go?


The chatbot runs on Chatbase, which uses external technology providers such as OpenAI. This means data may be processed outside the UK, including in the United States. To protect it, we rely on legally approved safeguards known as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights


Under UK data protection law, you can:

  • Ask for a copy of your data

  • Ask us to delete it

  • Object to how it’s used

  • Correct anything that’s wrong

Only one person has access to chatbot data. No profiling or tracking is used, and we have technical measures in place to protect the data we do process.
